FUMA is a platform that can be used to annotate, prioritize, visualize and interpret Genome-Wide Association (GWAS) results. Users only need to upload their own GWAS summary statistics for analysis. FUMA will then apply an extensive range of functional SNP annotations and gene-mapping to prioritize variants and genes for post-GWAS follow-up. Since its development in 2016, FUMA has been extensively used by the scientific community. Currently, we have over 27.000 FUMA users who in total ran nearly 600.000 (!) analyses jobs!
Over the past years, the platform and the FUMA functionalities have been continuously extended, for instance with modules for gene mapping of cell-specificity using MAGMA, and gene prioritization using FLAMES. At the same time, we need to maintain the infrastructure of FUMA to ensure the stability of the platform and a friendly user-experience. In these difficult financial times of university budget cuts it is however more and more challenging to find sufficient funding for support personnel. In parallel, hardware and cloud infrastructure costs are constantly rising making it even more difficult to offer such large analyses volumes to the scientific community for free.
Your donation will be highly appreciated and essential to cover for the future maintenance and sustainability of the FUMA platform. It will contribute to personnel support as well as the required computational infrastructure. Please help us with this if you find FUMA a useful platform for your research.
